View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can I install new Lucid Lynx themes on Karmic?

Y'all, I just saw online where Ubuntu is breaking with tradition starting with Lucid Lynx and ditching the brown look. The article is at http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2010/03/ubuntu-dumps-the-brown-introduces-new-theme.ars.

However, since I prefer to wait until the finished product is out before I upgrade from Karmic, does anyone know if there's a place where I can download those themes in advance? I especially like the black version of the Metacity (or possibly Emerald) theme in the first screenshot, as it looks like it would blend in perfectly with any of the shiki-colors series of themes.

I'm just curious if there's a place to download those yet.

You will be able to, but for now the themes are not available anywhere, just in the screenshots.

However, when the themes will be available, you will have to install the new Murrine engine (it's available in a PPA so it's very easy).

Ughhh,i soooo don't like window buttons being on left side, i'm too used to rightsided look :P

You can easily change the placement of the looks if you want
