Outstanding application, I highly recommend it. Installed quick & easy on my ubuntu home server. It's a web-accessed, java-based server.
Once it's up & running, it serves up a fancy flash webpage with a login - once logged in, it took only a few minutes to get set up. It recognized & cataloged all my music and fetched all the cover art without a hitch.
Great for sharing music across multiple client platforms - for example, my music is encoded in flac, and my wife's Mac doesn't do flac without downloading a special player like Cog. With this web-based scheme, Subsonic streams it in a format that the client recognizes.
I highly recommend! Free & open source of course.
