Been looking at netbooks on Newegg, trying to find a low cost system to run UNR on. Some reviewers however, have stated that anything but the GMA 950 isn't working with Ubuntu, and that it restricts you to 800 x 600 resolution. Is this true? If so, should I hold out on any N450 netbooks and get an N270 cheap?
Thanks for your insight. I don't want to regret my netbook purchase!
EDIT: When I say only the GMA 950, I mean only it out of all the netbook IGP solutions. I know lots of other grphics cards work with Ubuntu.

I'd strongly advise against the GMA500 based on comments I've read in these forums (use the Search feature at the top right of your screen) and this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_500
I've had good luck with my two Intel GMA 950 netbooks (Asus and Dell); this card is well supported by all Linux distributions (though it is not particularly powerful for full-screen video). If watching video is a high priority, I've heard great things about the new Nvidia Ion platform.

Anyone have any luck with a netbook with the GMA 3150? I was looking at the Eee PC 1001P on Newegg

but its not running the GMA 950. Anyone have any success using this IGP?

Search is your friend:

Looks like a good balance of price and battery life! My older model netbooks only get 3-4 hours. :(
