You know, that's what has really been holding me back from switching over to XP...

Well, that and the whole usability issues...I mean, they don't even have apt-get for Windows...gawd...when are they ever going to become a REAL operating system?

EDIT: http://windows-get.sourceforge.net/

Source?

To my knowledge there is no software designed to give a Windows user access to all safe programs that can be downloaded in a stable, regularly updated repository.

If there is, I'd love to hear about it...

Once you edited your post you did... >.>

*Browsing the software "list"*

Oh yes, now that's what I was expecting...more Demos than you can shake a stick at.

Sorry, it's not apt-get...in order to be like apt-get, the programs would have to be 100% free and 100% non-crippled/demo/trial/etc.

Of course, just the fact that they attempted to create something like apt-get is just kind of embarrassing.

I'm still not convinced...I just can't consider switching over and losing so many good programs.

:P

That is one of the most pointless things I have ever seen.

disagree! we've all heard tales of skinning linux to look like windows to trick grandma/grandpa/girlfriend/etc....

this means that somewhere out there are grandparent or girlfriend ubuntu users waiting to be tricked!

:DI don't know which is uglier, Ubuntu's default browns or XP's Crayola theme.

If you want XP to look like Ubuntu (eck!) then why don't you just use Ubuntu?

Maybe you want to look at something fugly, but you don't want your sound to break.

Actually, with those stupid bongo drums, I'm glad when Ubuntu's sound breaks.
