I like it.

I am interested in Linux as a desktop unit for everyday type of work. Mostly browsing, letter writing, e-mail. Nothing real major. I do work on a couple of websites and have been using FrontPage, but using FTP to upload. Now I am looking at web site programs. Sugestions?

I still have a few things to adapt to and then I'll be dropping Big Brother Bill.

(Except at work, still have to use it there.)

I am not sure what you have in mind, but i like Bluefish (http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/) to build with and use gedit (in html highlight) mode to edit pages.

Here are some others that you might want to try:

Qaunta Plus (quanta.sourceforge.net/ )
Nvu (http://www.nvu.com/)
Amaya (http://www.w3.org/Amaya/)
CoffeeCup (http://www.coffeecup.com/)

***Crude but still funny***

How many fat women must a person sleep with before they realize that they can't handle jello shots?

I've been using Ubuntu for just 24 hours now, and I sense the beginnings of a long and beautiful relationship :)

On the web development software thing - if you've been used to Frontpage then I'm guessing you might not be that used to editing the HTML source directly.

Nvu or Mozilla Composer (which Nvu is based on) might give the easiest transition for you. But if you don't mind writing source code, then Bluefish is great and can do a lot of the work for you.

And if your experiments with Linux take you as far as a terminal, you might like to try VI (http://www.vim.org/) for editing (can take a bit of learning) and Midnight Commander (http://www.ibiblio.org/mc/) (mc) for file browsing and FTP.

Good luck!

[ps] and cheers again, Ubuntu community 8-)
