After following this guide:

AND the comments bellow it, I got my embedded terminal just the way I wanted it:
-auto start
-transparent
I used this regex to, title=^trans$ so that it matches the window titled trans, not any window happened to have the word trans in it.
I rebooted, and ALL of my windows were being applied with that regex somehow (????). I couldn't open anything, and the embedded console wasn't even embedded, it for some reason was the only window which could be moved/had resized/maxmized. It seems that everything is being saved to start up in the top left.
So when I try to run avant! I reinstalled from ubuntu software center but no help. Man this sucks!!
