How do i install ubuntu 10.04 on a machine without it installing all the default applications that comes with ubuntu.. I want to be able to choose what needs to be installed.. So basically a clean install of the OS only. I want to install all the applications i want to use myself..
I dont want games, openoffice and all that other jazz.. It must just be the base OS with no applications..

Im using the alternative x86 cd..

Any ideas?

You could take some instructions/hints from here I would suppose, but of course, all the cautions about screwing around with an Alpha release apply to whatever you decide to do...

An install from the minimal disk is the best way to get what you want. I tried to find a 10.04 minimal install ISO and had no luck. I then used a 9.10 install disk. After installing the base system the first thing I did was install updade manager core and do a dist upgrade to the 10.04 kernel. Then Ibegan a normal minimal install of xorg, synaptic and xfce4. At the time it was alpha 2 and had some bugs. I am waiting for the beta to try it again. You might have luck with this method.
