Hi,

I've managed to get a 2 GPU 3 head setup working in ubuntu 9.10 using 2 nvidia NVS 295's and xinerama. Each monitor is set as a different X screen, which xinerama is combining into 1 desktop.

It works well, however, at times can be just a little slow. My PC is fairly decent spec dell i7 with 6gb of RAM.

Is there a better way to do this?. I have read xinerama has been pretty much deprecated in favour of xrandr, and the newer verions of xrandr support multi gpu now? Can anyone confirm this?

Other thought I had was instead of 3 seperate X's, doing 2 as a twin view and the other as a seperate X. Problem I had here was maximising on the twin view went accross both twin view screens which was annoying, but I'm sure I'll figure something out with that.

Also, noticed my ram usage is right up / ubuntu is taking alot more ram as cache. Not sure if xinerama is doing something odd.

Anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Jon
