I'm somewhat confused with the question but I hope I get it right. Yes, there is. Try VLC Player, it's in the repositories, Ubuntu Software Center. It supports a number of video formats http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.php?cat=video

I'm not sure, but you may have to install certain codecs in order to play them.

Be sure you have "ubuntu-restricted-extras" installed from the Ubuntu repositories, and you may have to install additional codecs from the Medibuntu (http://www.medibuntu.org/) repositories.

As long as you have the proper codecs installed, you should be able to play those videos with most any of the players in Linux.

I'm currently using VLC and it is the best player ..... but doesnt work online when using media player. On the other hand I installed "wine" and I was able to install many windows programs and worked great but still I was unable to install windows media player. I used VLC all the time but sometimes I need to use Windows Media Player. Thank you very much for your time...I'll keep trying if you find anything else please let me know have a good one....;)

I found what I needed in order to play "WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER". I went to the "CANONICAL STORE" and found a software called "Fluendo". According to them UBUNTU is open source software and windows media player is not so we have to pay for it. I think is understandable so I might buy it and see if it works.

This pack includes :

Windows Media Audio Decoder (Windows Media 7, 8, 9, 10, Pro, Lossless and Speech)
Windows Media Video Decoder (Windows Media 7, 8, 9 and VC1)
Windows Media MMS Protocol Support
Windows Media ASF Demuxer
MP3 Audio Decoder
LPCM Audio Decoder
This is the link guys : http://shop.canonical.com/product_info.php?products_id=242 you'll find all the details there..

Thanks for all the answer....have a nice day
