"Lost" password

I installed 9.10 just before going on vacation. The sunshine was nice but on coming home, I find that I do not know my password. I presume I made a typing error during installation, but I do not know how to find it.

I cannot do any administrative tasks. :-(

If it is of any help, I have Windows XP on the same machine.
