Oh My Goodness, what a strange development this is. This is the first Samsung laptop I've ever seen.

Same price range as Dell and Acer, nice! Go Korea!

Samsung hav been making excellent laptops for a while, they have a fair selection of different models available.

I got the same processor but an extra 3 GB of ram and twice the hard drive space from dell about 6 months ago for 500 euro.
So I think it's a good deal if that's your budget.

Remember Dual Core != Core duo

Remember Dual Core != Core duo

Also, Core Duo != Core 2 Duo

I've been using a Samsung laptop for a year (Q310) and its pretty good. The only thing is that they decided not to support 64bit for my particular model (both Windows 7 and Linux have problems). My conclusion is that along with Taiwanese companies, Korean companies give you the best deals in exchange for shoddy support.

Aye! Terribly ambiguous names!

reminds me slightly of Gateway. Granted, I've used gateway twice back a few years, and I had no problems with Gateway and linux. I think Gateway now uses mainly AMD processors, not sure. They were big on Intel graphics, and now use ATI mainly.

Gateway has always provided good drivers through their support site though.

Also, if you buy a gateway, DO NOT get a recovery disk from geek squad or the like; Gateway has a recovery disk maker.
