OK... since no one can help me in getting the latest Tellico installed in particular (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1381410, let me try this a different way.

How can I add a repository (such as ftp.us.debian.org/debian) to the apt/sources.list so that only one program is affected by the 'apt-get upgrade' command? When I try update and then upgrade, apt tries upgrading everything on my system with whatever is in the new repository - which I obviously do not want.

Or is this the only way to do it: uninstall the old version first, add the new repository, and then just install the new version of the program?

On a related note, what is the process for software being added to the official Ubuntu repositories? And what is the time frame? Is there anyway to request that a particular software be added to the official servers?

BTW - the package in question is in the pool/main/t/tellico/ subdirectory of the server, according to the programs web site...

Thank you....

I tried that, but since this is a KDE program and I am trying to install it on a GNOME system - I have no idea what I am doing. I installed cmake so I could try to compile it and cmake gave me even more cryptic errors of things that were not found.
