sun vs open java

I would like to install sun java instead of the default open source version.

What I would like to know is should I install the sun version first and then remove the open version or should I do it the other way around?

Is there anything else I sould know?

If you install Sun Java from the repository, no need to install Open Java. However if you install Sun Java from the downloaded .bin then you need to install Open JDK first.
