Hi, I am not an emacs pro, but I am wondering if there is a ubuntu package for a verilog mode for emacs. I could not seem to find one when I did a search in synaptic.

Also while I am at it, does anyone know how to make emacs always open with syntax highlighting on? I don't understand why it doesn't do this by default, nor do I know how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Google gave me several hits for "verilog mode emacs". Here's one (http://www.verilog.com/verilog-mode.html). I have used one in the past, but I don't remember which one exactly.

You can use customise to turn on font highlighting, but you have to drill down so far into the menus that it's ridiculous. An easier option is to put "(global-font-lock-mode t)" in your .emacs file.
