Hi,

I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my new MSI X340. Because the netbook dose not have a CD drive and i do not own a USB drive, I'm looking to install Ubuntu using an external hard drive.

I tried extracting the installation ISO files on to a hard drive, but when i try to boot from it i just seem to get an error.

Does anyone know how to do the Ubuntu instillation from an external hard drive and not from a USB drive? Any directions would greatly help.

Thanks.;)

Your external hard drive still connects to a USB correct? If you have any data on that drive, back it up first. I'm pretty sure you can use the USB installer from http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
