Hi All,

What is your opinion on rapid reading.

1. Is reading speed a natural product of reading?
2. Is reading speed a learned technique which should be grown time to time like other talents?
3. What is important comprehension or rapid reading? One of the study say rapid reader (1000 wpm) have comprehension to level of 85% and average reader 300 wpm have comprehension of 60%. This may be a claim by a rapid reading organization.
4. Personal views you may have after attending seminars or reading book.

Thanks.

I voted natural, but in the sense that it's dependant on the reader, and for me, the book. I could read a book slowly, and not understand a thing, or remember it later, I could speed read it, and understand it perfectly, or vice versa even. It all depends on the circumstances. :)

I can rapid read to some extent but it impairs my comprehension and enjoyment. Maybe if I practiced it more, I would get past these problems, but I have never cared to try. When I am reading fiction, I like to savor it.
