Install on Acer 5536

Hi,

I installed the latest ubuntu on an ACER 5536 laptop. It worked perfectly except for the mic. However, 6 hours later the dvd drive failed and I was unable to open the tray either by pressing the button or ejecting via software. The dvd would also not play.

I returned it to the supplier and they are saying it is a software fault as i changed the operating system.

Has anyone any ideas as to how I can convice them it is a hardware fault.

Pressing the eject button does not work through software, but straight to the electronics of the DVD drive (remember, you can eject the tray as soon as the machine is switched on, if the drive itself is working).

Thanks for that just needed confirmation as customer services just keeps saying software fault.
