USB devices no longer work

Yesterday I updated my system when the updates appeared on update manager and now no USB devices work! I did lsusb and the system knows they are there but no GUI for them appears on the desktop and if I go through the file manager it says I don't have permission to open them. WTF??

I have the same problem. My USB HDDs do not mount, and my other internal HDD also does not show up in the "Places" menu, because the "Removable HDD?" menu no longer exist.

But my HDDs can be seen when I type: sudo fdisk -l
