I found a site, 24listen.com that gets youtube videos and converts them into mp3s. Of course there are easier ways to do this, but look at the logo......

Here is nongnu's gnu:

Anyone notice a similarity?

Well if the GNU foundation has protection on their logos, this could be illegal.

Actually, it's under the GPL, so it is indeed free to distribute, but do they have to give credit? GPL TL;DR.

I'm not going to sue! It's just the exact same design, same artwork.

No, I'm pretty sure they do not. There is nothing at the bottom of the page, or anywhere on the site for that matter.

I would use caution when jumping to conclusions based on innuendo. You may find yourself in strife.

Bottom line .You have no idea if they do or do not.

How do we know it's not the same artist?

How do we know it's not the same artist?

If it was a "work for hire", it doesn't matter if it's the same artist. The image belongs to the person/entity he created it for.

Lol, you make it sound like cartoons of yellow gnus are as common as cartoons of mice.

The proper method for handling possible trademark infringement, is to report the violation to the trademark holders. Frankly, the GNU Gnu is probably not trademarked anyway, but the GNU folks are the ones to talk to on this.
