hey peoples... I installed Ubuntu 9.10, and im having some issues with apt-get/synaptic...
Synaptic doesn't reload and trying to install a package takes forever... heres what i get when i reload synaptic... it basically freezes on this error

failed Translation-en_AU

I also have a 2nd ubuntu machine and it has the exact same problem... so its nothing to do with my configuration..

my resolv.conf is clean

nameserver 192.168.0.1

and sources.list is clean

can anybody else confirm this bug or know how to fix it? its driving me nuts...
Its not my router/modem either, some people had similiar issues and said updating their firmware in their router/modem fixed it, but things were fine until recently

any help appreciated

Just an idea. I can't connect to http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ so try changing those lines to other servers. You can do this in terminal or by using synaptic - settings -repositories - Ubuntu Software - Download from - Other... Either choose manually or use Select Best Server.

yeah, tried that... still get those errors when i view what synaptic is doing....
although it doesn't seem as bad today, it reloads and installs packages fine... but I still get those errors about

"failed Translation-en_AU"

very strange....
I would still like to know if any other users are getting this error... try it....
its very annoying still, i wanna know how to fix it:(

I just had the same issue with Ubuntu 9.10 The way I fixed mine was to go to >system>administration>software sources, type password and then from the download from box click the down arrow, select other and then click best option. It will do a search and highlight the best choice, then all you do is select it. I just did it 30min ago and now my synaptics manager is working fine again. Hope this helps, Good luck
