Super fast browsing but super slow updates

This is frustrating: My internet is very fast when browsing the web with firefox and other browsers. When I need to download updates, it is so slow that I just don't update. Speeds on updates are never higher than 10 bites/s (not Kbps... bps!!)

I have Ubuntu on another HD and everything is lightning fast there.

What's wrong with kubuntu?...
