I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm having trouble with wifi. Firefox asks for BSSID and the like. How do get through this? Note: I want to get onto my university's wifi with my username and password. Thank you!

Hi Sugoi48,
I have recently installed Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 on my Macbook 6.1, I also had several problems such as wifi. Have you noticed something like a hardware notification on wifi icon when you have opened Firefox?
I have fixed it by downloading hardware driver Broadcom STA (it was suggested) with an ethernet connexion, and then it worked.
Hope it helps

Which mac are you running? And do you have the internal airport card?
I run an old ibook with an airport card, but I use debian lenny, since ubuntu no longer supports the ppc architecture. For me, debian just works, including graphics and wireless.

I installed 9.10 on a Mac mini yesterday and had problems with the wifi. I hooked it up to an ethernet cable and downloaded all the software it wanted to bring the machine up to date, which was 243 software packages. After doing so, the wifi worked fine. I was really surprised at how well it went. I had access to all the file servers and printers at work and after part of a morning, I had a beefy little machine. I haven't used Ubuntu in a couple of years but it's definitely getting better and easier for non-techies to use.
