I have this old Dell computer - Pentium 4 - 2.4GHz, 512MB ram, 40GB HDD. It was decomissioned and came as a blank slate - no OS. I copied the ISO file v9.10 to a CD and put it into the CD drive. All I get is "strike F to rery reboot. F2 for setup utility". I go the the setup utility and do not see anything that can help. I press F1 several times and get the same thing. I am a complete newb at this. Thanks.

did you just copy the iso to a cd or did you BURN the iso on a cd? there is a difference. if all you did was drop the .iso onto the blank cd all you did was create a data cd with a file on it.

how did you burn it?

You need to burn the iso as an image. See http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/burn

Used Roxio Creator Plus which was already on the WinXP computer. Installing fine. Thanks for the quick responses everyone. This week I'll have to pick up a USB Wireless Thingy. I have two wireless sources I can connect to here.
