Come join the Ubuntu team (http://www.kiva.org/team/ubuntu) on Kiva (http://www.kiva.org/)! I haven't found another thread about Kiva, so I figure maybe people don't know about its awesomeness.

Kiva is a website that connects people through lending to alleviate poverty. Basically, Kiva works with microfinance institutions all over the world to make small loans to entrepreneurs. You pick a loan (http://www.kiva.org/lend) and put in $25, along with a bunch of other people, and Kiva passes the money on to the microfinance institution, who manages the loan with the entrepreneur. There's no interest, but you get your $25 back when the entrepreneur repays. Then you can withdraw it, or loan it to someone else. You can look at the About Kiva (http://www.kiva.org/about) section to learn more about how Kiva and the loans work.

If you're interested Kiva AND Ubuntu, you might be interested in the Ubuntu Team (http://www.kiva.org/team/ubuntu).

It's fun! It's microfinance! You connect with people all over the world! It's in the spirit of ubuntu! I am what I am because of who we all are!
