So I was visiting a friend in his coed dorm room and all the girls (quite attractive) that were visiting were all talking about Chatroulette, so I thought I would see what the buzz was about (I don't have a cam but you can still use it)...I have to say it is pretty creepy.

After checking it out I did a search and found this New York Times article from a day ago:

The social Web site, created just three months ago by a 17-year-old Russian named Andrey Ternovskiy, drops you into an unnerving world where you are connected through webcams to a random, fathomless succession of strangers from across the globe.

It seems to be the latest rage among college age people, but I think this is what happens when random people learn to code.

The social web sites just got weirder!

omegle 5341 users online

Chatroulette 43788 users online

just a random sampling but the worldwide buzz appears to be with Chatroulette.

i think its cool to meet random people around the world, the more interesting they are the better. but cmon what is with all those guys showing their privates...like honestly why would you do that?

I'd like to show my brain but unfortunately I would die doing so.

The likelihood of getting entertained (like that one featuring erm... Kermit) is small. So... no.

That's because the Omegle fad faded away a long time ago, and just like Omegle, this fad will also soon fade away.

Personally I think it is hilarious. Especially when you get to meet people like this...

I'm slightly annoyed as I have spent some time this morning sorting out my old Creative Webcam 3 and the Chatroulette website has gone down. It was getting a bit limiting on my netbook.

Is there any actual roulette involved (ie playing while socialising)?

Or is it more like Russian roulette, ie one in six people you meet will be a psycho stalker?

More like 1 in 1 people you meet will have their ***** out.
