View Full Version : [ubuntu] How do I boot from a cd?

I'm trying to fresh install from Xubuntu Koala to Jaunty but my computer keeps booting from the hdd. how can I get the cd to load. I have a COMPAQ computer. Thanks in advance

During startup there is usually button you can hit for Quick Boot menu, like F12, F10, etc. It should say it on the screen.
Another way is to enter BIOS and change the boot options CDROM to be before HDD. Save and exit. For entering BIOS there should also be button specified on the screen or similar, like F2, etc.

No i tried that put the cd to boot before hdd and still have no luck. ](*,)

Are you sure the cd is bootable? If it's not it would boot from hdd.

It's the original cd I first used. Then I upgraded to koala which is too buggy for me. Now my computer says that my filesystem has errors

Still the cd could have gone bad since you last used it for an install.
