This is a very frustrating problem, I can't eject the dvd from my laptop as it is a slot load device nor can I get Ubuntu to eject it because the dvd drive doesn't exist. Which it decided it didn't when it started up earlier today.

I have tried a fresh install and all updated but it continues to do this. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop, I would just open the back of the laptop and remove the disk physically but I don't want to void the warranty. So that would be a last resort.

I have tried going through the terminal to make it eject or even to mount. sudo mount /media/cdrom0 or /dev/sda1 or anything online that I could try to get to make it mount or unmount.
