When i try to install 9.10, the screen goes blank and the monitor comes up 'Video mode not supported'

I can get the screen to come back on again by CTRL-ALT-+ but the screen remains scrambled at whatever resolution i try.

I have heard this problem might be caused by using the D-SUB connector rather then the digital connector on the graphics card, however the monitor is D-SUB only.

Graphics card is GeForce 7600GT AGP
Monitor is Acer P223W LCD.

Sounds like your card may not be seated properly.
Or not getting a solid connection, i.e. - dust.

I'm not so sure theres a physical problem with the card/connection.

Windows XP works fine, and so does Ubuntu 8.04.
