View Full Version : [ubuntu] Recommendations for upgrading to Bluefish 2.0 (stable)

I currently have Bluefish 1.0.7 installed on my machine, but would like to upgrade to version 2.0, which was just released a couple days ago.

I have two questions for everyone today:

How long does it generally take for new versions of applications to be added to the Ubuntu Software Center? (I'd prefer to use this method to upgrade my copy of Bluefish.)
Will upgrade instructions and files for the Debian distro also work with Ubuntu 9.10, which is the distro I've installed on my computer? (Specifically, I'm referring to these instructions (http://debian.wgdd.de/debian/#ubuntu).)

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

Hi ntf485,

I have just had a look at the upcoming Lucid and I see that it may very well ship with the 1.0.7 version so I suspect that unless somebody makes a good case for a backport that will be it for Karmic...

I saw that on the 'official' Bluefish pages and I will admit I was a little doubtful. I have written more than a few guides to compiling software under Ubuntu and this one would be reasonably straightforward I suspect. Would you be interested in compiling your own copy? I attach a screenshot of Bluefish 2.0.0 running on my own system to tempt you :).

All the best,

Andrew

Looks like the guide has been through moderation and can be seen here:
