I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on one of my external hard drives, it ran good and installed.

Now my computer won't boot without the drive, is there anyway to fix this? I have just windows Vista 64-bit on it. I need the original boot loader on it and how do I do that?

When you installed ubuntu where did you put grub? Usually grub will be installed in the windows mbr. I have had this happen b4 when I thought I would put grub in the ubuntu side and had to go back and put the grub in windows.

I didn't really look to where I put it, Will using my recovery disc and use start-up repair fix it or do I need to do something more?

Here is one sourcw of info. I cant seem 2 find the instructions I just used last week for reinstalling grub. But this page seems to have most everything regarding grub. You should not need 2 use your recovery cd.

Okay, thank you.
I managed to get it fixed using Easy-BCD. Sorry to waste your time. I should've searched a little bit more. I was worried since this computer cost me 1000 dollars lol. I will do the rest of the stuff on my older computers next time.

Well I will be back soon lol. I mess around with computers all day. And Ubuntu sometimes doesn't want to work with me. I have used it for only a year, so I am still getting used to it to an extent. Still Thank you. Now I have to go test this to see if it boots. peace
