I was just experimenting with different distros on my family computer.
I noticed that Ubuntu, Linux Mint 8, & Mint KDE 8, all produce the following error when I try to hibernate the computer:
[ 75.286416] pm_op(): pci_pm_thaw+0x0/0x50 returns -16
[ 75.286420] Device 0000:00:00.0 failed to thaw: error -16
They are all based on Ubuntu 9.10.
When I tried the latest distro of PC/OS, based on Ubuntu 9.04, the same computer hibernated and suspended effortlessly and beautifully.
I'm going to use PC/OS, but am I right in thinking the problem is with 9.10?
What's up with that?
I've heard this phenomena discussed in passing, but I'd love to hear a clearer explanation.
P.S. I've looked at some of the potential fixes for hibernation problems, and they look grueling.
