Hi everyone,
I'm new to Ubuntu Karmic 64 bit. I'm using it with GNOME.
While trying to remove the pulseaudio sound system, I managed to paralize my GNOME. When I used the autoremove for pulseaudio, it got ripped down the ubintu-desktop component and after that no content appeared in any of the windows, including the Synaptic. I decided therefore to reinstall the ubuntu-desktop package.
GNOME ok now, but there is absolutely NO SOUND in my system.
Even the multimedia-system chooser (at System/Settings) does not make any sound when testing. Currently I can choose between PulseAudio and ALSA sound system as output sound. None of them works.
My sound mixer goes to 0 regulary, however there is not sound even when I put it to 100%.
Could you please help me to diagnose and fix the problem?
What shall I do?
Thank you in advance!
