View Full Version : [ubuntu] Live boot "remember me" option?

My replacement hard drive in my Compaq laptop is not recognized by the bios but is available to operating systems once mounted. I cannot boot any operating system from this notebook because of this issue.
I would like to allow my live boot, via CD, to "nest" somewhere on my hard drive.

This used to be possible in dyne;bolic but I have been using Ubuntu for quite a while on my desktop machine and wouldn't be interested in alternatives.

I want to allow Ubuntu some space so that live boots up with all drivers loaded, my desktop how I like it and so I don't have to type my WEP key into my wireless access every time.

It would be nice to have a faster boot speed also ;-)

I have had a look around (here and via Google) but if anyone knows a thread or page that shows how this can be done (if, indeed, it can be done) I would love to find a solution.

Thanks in advance,
b
