Almost every package install or upgrade comes with errors about ttf-mscorefonts-installer.

Refer to the attached screenshot. (I tried to copy the text. I could select it, but neither Ctrl-C nor Ctrl-Shift-C would copy it. NOTE: It should be possible to copy any text from any window!)

In the screenshot:

* there are errors involving a malformed URL. Is that something I can fix?
* there is a missing file andale32.exe (a Windows file? bizarre!)

I have removed the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package, which I could only find by searching in Synaptic for that name specifically. I hope this fixes this problem, which contributes to the sloppy, not-quite-ready feel that pervades Karmic.

I have no idea why the problem has occurred for you with the font installer, but as far as copying text from the terminal is concerned, try selecting it then right clicking and choosing copy. That certainly works from gnome-terminal, but I'm not sure about the x-terminal that you get when using synaptic, or the gui installers. I think you can use select and then paste with the mouse middle button (scrollwheel) the same as any app.
