Hello Ubuntu Support Community,

I have searched for a solution to my problem but I have not had any success.

I just installed ubuntu 9.10 on my gateway laptop. Below is the problem I notice and I am not sure what action to take moving, forward. I need guided help. I know how to use the computer, I just am very new to ubuntu.

Symptom: Everything started up nicely after install. I hooked up my wireless and everything was running. After I started downloading some files and updates. The speed starts off at 100 kb/s (which is normal for me) and then goes down to 1000 b/s then it stops completely. I am not sure why the speed just dies out.

Band-aid: I disconnect and reconnect the wireless then it works again and the moment i start to download anything it just slowly dies out. I am not sure what the problem is or where to start looking.

I searched the forums but I did not find anything that related to this problem.

I used to run xp home on this laptop and the wireless seemed to work fine.

Thank you for your help.
