Hi meierfra!
I just keyed in ls and got back as a result:
(hd0) (hd0, 1)
error: out of disk
I'll try to get out the result.txt in the next couple of minutes ;-)
I must say ... I'm quite a newbee ... Thanks for any help! Drew

Could you also run the boot info script and post the RESULTS.txt:

Hi meierfra!
I've just booted the notebook with the LiveCD. Although I checked the system requirements before installing, windows aren't opening properly, there are only fractions shown. I suppose that my machine - it has gotten a celeron chip inside - is simply too weak. I hoped that this was just a result of the LiveCD - a problem that would have been fixed if I could boot from the hard disk.
Although I downloaded the boot info script with the help of my new notebook I cannot run it on the to-be-ubuntu note book.
I think I'll try to get an older Linux version hoping that that will run - at least as a funtionable LiveCD. In case I should manage to get the results.txt for Ubuntu 9.10 I will post it asap. Anyway, many thanks.
