Hey guys,

I was trying to reformat an external hard drive on ubuntu 6.10 edgy server where the filesystem became read-only!

to fix it I decided to reboot the machine (very bad decision)!
now it cannot boot - it stops by giving this message:

EXT3-fs error: ext3_check_descriptors / group descriptors corrupted

when I try to use the recovery CD and chose a shell to run it cannot even do that, it gives me the error message:

no usable shell was found your root file system (/dev/sda1)

i tried other root file systems (sda2,sda3) and still the same error message!

the only option that I have is to run the shell from the CD!

does anyone have any idea? i'm freaking out!
