Fedora 11 won't boot up for me after an upgrade and I've been wanting to install this Ubuntu 8.4 from a USB stick. I can't load a kernel, I can only get into the various F-11 bootloaders and grub bash screen. Am I gonna be doing this from the grub menu or is it safe to just stick in the USB stick and boot from it?

It is safe to stick in your usb stick and boot from it.

It did nothing, no matter what I did with the BIOS, so I got frustrated, remembered something about Alt+Ctrl+F5 and ended up in tty3 of Fedora 11 (Leonidas). It said Hello Children of the World in a bunch of languages. Suffice it to say I'm stuck...
