Has anyone used MagicJack?

My dad bought a MagicJack and I'm trying to get it to work on his Ubuntu 8.04. When I was running off the Live CD it was recognized but now it doesn't recognize that anything is plugged in. Has anyone used this with Ubuntu and did you have any trouble getting it to work?

MagicJack does not work on Linux, never has. They have been promising it for a couple of years now but they are extremely flakey and rarely even make updates on it.

What were you able to figure out? Apparently, MagicJack expects Linux support in 2010Q1, of which only eight days remain, so it should be any minute now.
