I am stuck in a wierd problem here that most probably many of you have faced.

I have added some custom applications(eg: eclipse and quartus) using the launcher applet to the GNOME Panel and the Menu. But unfortunately I just could not find a way to assign their default icons. When choosing the option to select an icon for the launcher, i am allowed only to choose SVG files ! But in the application folder I can only find xpm / PNG files. The default SVG files dont have the icon I am looking for.

Is there a way in GNOME to assign any picture file as ICON to a launcher in Panel ? I don't want to go about, converting icon files of every custom application shortcut on panel to svg. I believe this should be a painless process.

any help would be appreciated.

Sorry guys, my mistake or lets say a wierd behaviour from GNOME.

When i click "Browse button", it doesn't display any picture files, it rather waits for us to select a folder. And after clicking "Open" with the selected folder, the supported pictures in this folder are displayed in the list box.

So things made short, SOLVED. Thanks.
