View Full Version : Are other languages apart from chosen one installed by default?

I'm wondering if other languages are installed by default in ubuntu even after you choose your default language when installing the system; I would think that if other languages were installed, for many people it would just be a waste of hard disk space, as many (if not most) people just use one language for their computers.

i doubt it cuz when you install it says like "removing gnome-base-br .... removing gnome-base-zh" during near the end

like that, name may be different but they must be language packs

That's partly true... most of the time, if a language has variants (think: Spanish, English, Dutch, Portuguese), then all the variants are installed, that can be a pain with English, cuz there really are a lot of variants... You can of course remove them afterwards.
