I was thinking. There are a whole lot of help forums on this little community, but there's no real way to know if or how well you're helping someone if they don't reply or just don't care to tell you "thanks".

What if there were some sort of "rating". Say, you help someone with a problem and they rate your help/information on a scale, then in your profile (or such) it would display your overall help rating.

Just a thought.:p

I think we had something like this a little while ago. It was a reputation tracker, but it was almost invisible and thus useless.

I'd be open to trying this if (1) the feature were actually visible to newcomers, and (2) the feature would be presumptively removed after a period (say, 2 months) unless it were clearly successful.

To pre-empt potential abuse of the system, of course, the help tracker would have to be disabled in all the "chat" forums.

There is already a vBulletin hack that does this, so it shouldn't be too difficult to implement here.

Maybe a member of the forum staff will take notice.

There's actually a separate forum for discussion of the forum itself. ;)
