View Full Version : [SOLVED] GRUB splashimage: known-good works, mine doesn't

I downloaded a bunch of known-good GRUB splash images, to try and isolate the problem with my own that refuses to load.

Contrary to one of the things I'd read, splashimage doesn't do anything from the GRUB command line.

But when I altered menu.lst to use one of the known-good ones ("hubble.xpm.gz"), it loaded correctly at the very next boot.

Obviously, there's got to be something wrong with mine. But what could it be, that it doesn't like?

If anybody would like to examine it, it's attached to this thread:

This past weekend, I had the idea of taking the image on a "round trip" to PNG format and back, but I only had time to go halfway. Someone in the local Linux user group suggested the same idea, so I completed the round trip this evening, and IT WORKED!
