Having an issue with a fresh install which gets stuck at partitions formatting 33%.

Tried different HDD's, 2 optical drives, 4 sticks of RAM, different SATA cable, disconnect floppy. Have tried both normal and alt cd images using different burn speeds.

System was working with WinXP prior to this.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Did you checked md5sum (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) before burning and CD integrity (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck?action=show&redirect=CDIntegrityCheck) after burning iso?

How long you waited it to continue?
When i installed on one of my slower machines it take a long time before it continued from that 33% point.
I don't remember how long it take but much longer than normal but at least it did continue without any problems.

Just to rule out this what i have can you try to wait 1 hour before doing anything.
Also one that comes to mind is that old noacpi parameter in startup that has to be
used many computers before installation could go without problems.

Ha yeah, you need to wait long enough. I found this while waiting at 33% and getting nervous - but as I read the posts the installer clicked onto the next bit. Didn't take an hour or anything but was a while (2 x 1.5Tb disks)
