Hello,

I just upgraded to 9.10. When I installed Ubuntu, I used the 32 bit kernel (generic), but I'd like to use a 64 bit edition of Ubuntu.

What's the best way to upgrade my kernel to one for my PC? I'd like to avoid having to scrap my install and start over from scratch. I've tried kernel upgrades in the past with mixed (crappy) results. Can anyone recommend a good step-by-step guide?

Thanks

If you want to change your system from 32 yo 64 then Ithink you will have to install 64 bit version instead of 32 witch you already have.If you just want that your kernel recognize all of your ram then in synaptic search box type linux-image and after that find linux-generic-pae and install it.
