View Full Version : [ubuntu] installing desktop themes

how do I install themes?
I tried to install themes that I downloaded for ubuntu but I got this error message,
cannot move directory over directory, how can I fix this ?

Am that means that the theme has already been installed. Try looking for it in appearance.

Hey computerguts,
which themes r u talking about (metacity/emerald) ?
Depending on the window manager u r using, installation of themes will change.
If gtk(metacity) then just drag compressed file over Appearance window(System -> Preferences -> Appearance) if will be installed and Ubuntu will ask u if u want to apply new theme.
If emerald then open emerald theme manager and import .emerald file O:)

If you don't see it when you open appearance, then click customize and look under the individual tabs for the theme you installed. It should be there.
