Dear all

I have Ubuntu 8.10 installed on my computer. I am going to upgrade it to Ubuntu 9.10 using the CD.I don’t intended to start from scratch by booting the computer in the live mode. For this case,I inserted the Ubuntu 9.10 CD into CD-ROM drive in the Ubuntu 8.10 environment then pressed Alt+F2 and typed gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade" but nothing happened. What should I do? anyone can help?

Regards
Iman

1.I don't think you can skip releases in between unless they are LTS's . You will have to upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04 and then to 9.10.

2. Have you got the alternate install CD ?. I am not sure if the normal live cd has the cdromupgrade script in it. Not sure.

you can do the upgrade - i think it says you can from the last 2 release, but you got the wrong cd , its supposed to be the alternate-cd

if you use that one the command you supplied will work
