Threads "Looking for a Windows virus"

I spent awhile away from here (was a little too addicted) since I started checking the board again a few days ago, I noticed a few threads about people looking for Windows viruses. I have to sit back, and ask myself... Really? Are they really that hard to find? I know, from my experiences at least, they were never exactly a rare entity. What is this a new fad, or something?

Probably just to mess with friends. But, some people on YouTube install Windows 2000, 95, etc. and purposely download old viruses in their glory days (before they became harmful, and were just for fun) in order to show their effects.
