The Rolls Royce of browsers has long been the innovation lab for the rest of the industry, with rivals touting features first seen on Opera as their own "inventions" years later. It's maintained an emphasis on usability (with extreme customisation made easy) and performance - without getting bloated along the way.

It never even was a contender. ;)

Opera has always for years now been the only browser that has everything I need. Firefox is a piece of trash compared to Opera. Firefox can not even do something so simple as order bookmarks by date created descending and keep it that way. I stopped using firefox long ago.

I have multiple browsers installed so I can give them a try and still Opera wins hands down.

Indeed and lest not forget, Opera is a suite, does far more than just a stand alone browser and considering that, its fantastic performance and going. Also its one of the safest rated by Secunia and thats all one needs.

It is still at the bottom of the browser lists though:

Even Safari has more users. /shrug, use what you like, but I'm not sure Opera has a lot of chance getting out of the mobile market, as far as any sort of penetration goes, and even there, where they have enjoyed a decent amount of success, Google is going to be taking that from them.

Don't get me wrong, as ad-block challenged browsers go, I think Opera is nice; very fast and capable, but now that Google has released a decent Webkit browser for the rest of us, I don't think Opera will have much of a chance of moving from their current position.

LOL! so with that logic, Linux desktop sucks, it only has 1% share versus MS's 93%. In every tests done, Chrome is but history, its also far less featured and has bugs galore.

Well, that is one way of digesting what I said; though I'm not quite sure that is what I meant. Either way, enjoy.

Tell ya what I can do, "This is the year of Opera as the mainstream browser!"; there ya go. :p

Does that mean mac is better than linux then? I do not know if you know this, but the number of people using something does not make it any better than something else. It only means more people are using it. SO if you want to be one of the people who follow the herd and use firefox then so be it. I choose my own browser based on what it can do. Opera FTW

<sarcasm>Yes since were comparing browsers, that means OSX is better than Linux.</sarcasm>

I do not know if you know this, but the number of people using something does not make it any better than something else.
True, but it is certainly a note worthy indicator.

It only means more people are using it.
It could also mean it is better, so there is at least one more possible meaning.

SO if you want to be one of the people who follow the herd and use firefox then so be it. I choose my own browser based on what it can do. Opera FTW
I will use Firefox, and I never once, go look, ever, said anyone should stop using Opera, nor did I say they should start using Firefox; I only gave my opinion on why I believe Opera will remain in it's current spot on the "hit parade"; I'm not asking you to like the data, I'm not even asking you to believe the data; indeed, you can question w3schools and find out what motivates them to put such data out.

Thats about all I have to say about any of it.

P.S. I prefer Cadillac to Rolls Royce; and guess what, RR is still a fine car, just not a car I'd drive.

True, and RR probably have less market share in their industry than Opera has in it's industry... :p

I don't like Opera. Everything feels so wonkey and out of place. Plus, I want a web browser, not some ridiculous all in one thing.

Well its web browser and more, unlike *snip*, its got far better interface and runs way quicker. Ironically, for a suite, it runs circles around stand alone browsers in terms of speed, security and functionality not to mention the slickest most useful interface around.

Less market share and far more class, thats all that counts in the end.

Ah but thats just in response to "wonky".

You still here participating in this useless thread :)

So it hurts you when they call it <snip>, well it should be <snip> its the most profitable software company around period. No beef in that.

Well its web browser and more,

But I don't want the "and more".

unlike Bloatyfox,

*sigh*

its got far better interface and runs way quicker.

The interface is one of the reasons I don't like it. Feels like a mess to me, and I think it's ugly (and so are all the themes). Plus, chrome runs nice and fast and has a cleaner interface than either of them.

Ironically, for a suite, it runs circles around stand alone browsers in terms of speed, security and functionality not to mention the slickest most useful interface around.

"slickest interface"? I beg to differ. I don't see how it runs circles around chrome in terms of speed and security, either.

What we appear to have here is a 'OMG OPERA IS SO AWESOME EVERYONE SHOULD USE IT' thread.
I for one am not interested in anything other than chromium these days (or chrome).

For the one who appealed to logic before, you certainly shot yourself in the foot right there.
