I'm able to boot successfully from my newly created ISO CD with Ubuntu 9.10 on it. I have no previous installations of Ubuntu on my computer, just XP Home w/ Service Pack 3.

I choose to boot from the "IDE CD-ROM Device" and it loads the setup menu. I choose English and get to the installation options.

But when I choose any one of these options, even "Check disk for defects," the menu freezes. The disk drive appears to be reading the CD but other than that, nothing happens.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? I want to see if I can get this on my external USB hard drive and use that to boot it on my laptop.

Thanks everybody for any help!
